Fresh off the truck, the 2008 5 inch travel Trance X2:

Newly redesigned, the Trance X frames are 244 grams (touch over .5 pound) lighter than 2007 Trance (4.2 inch frame), yet has 5 inches of travel. Further, Giant built a frame that is 13.75% stiffer than 2007 Trance. Amazingly the Trance X0 is 200 grams heavier than aluminum Anthem frame (3.5 inches of travel). The secret is in the hydro forming.

Built with a mix of Deore / LX, Fox, Hayes, Raceface, WTB the Trances offer an amazing mix of parts at a fantastic price point.

There isn't any other bike on the market that can compare to the ride quality and value of Giants' Maestro suspension design. Come in and experience the ride for yourself, we've got a bike waiting for you.

A
Benefit: Reduced weight and superior ride compliance for long days in the saddle. The Inside Line: Both made possible through the implementation of a composite upper structure. Vibrations that normally would be transmitted to a rider’s hands and backside are dissipated by the composite structure.

B
Benefit: Virtually seamless junctions for increased strength and smooth appearance. The Inside Line: By wrapping each composite/aluminum union with carbon filament, Alliance frames feature nearly seamless junctions for superior strength and smooth appearance.

C
Benefit: Alliance aluminum sections feature radical butting for minimal weight, maximum stiffness and outstanding strength. The Inside Line: Butted, hydro-formed ALUXX SL aluminum tubing allows Giant engineers to place the precise amount of aluminum in critical-stress areas.

D
Benefit: Outstanding vibration absorption for a supremely comfortable ride. The Inside Line: Thanks to a unique composite insert co-molded to the inside of the aluminum seattube, Alliance frames are able to dissipate significantly more road vibration than a traditional aluminum seattube. Say goodbye to numb hands, forearms and backside.

E
Benefit: Unyielding lateral stiffness for highly efficient power transfer The Inside Line: Outstanding power transfer is achieved through the lower aluminum sub-structure, but without the drawback of a harsh ride—just right for high-intensity sprints and power climbs.

We now have Alliance in stock. Come in and check them out, take them for a test ride and experience the difference.

Road: Kuota Kredo. Carbon is still very, very sexy and the Kredo is no different. Each tube is individually shaped to achieve optimum ride quality giving the Kredo beautiful lines and an efficient ride. Tasteful graphics at a fantastic weight gets the Kredo on my short list.

Mountain: Giant Anthem. Start with a linkage that doesn’t rely on the shock to make it work correctly (read: Maestro) add solid geometry, (Long top tube, solid head tube angle and perfect chain stay lengths) and throw in a great component spec (no matter what level you buy) and you’ve got the perfect XC bike. The ‘07’s appear to only get better…

Cycle Cross: Lapierre X-Lite CX Bike. Oversized scandium married to a stock Ritchey carbon fork gives this bike the stiffness and lightweight handling a true ‘cross bike deserves. Top tube cable routing keeps everything running smoothly when the course gets sloppy and the ability to use the headset of the riders choosing gives me a supreme lust for the X-Lite.

Best new component: Easily SRAM’s new Rival group. (Yes, it’s a step below Sram Force) At roughly 100 grams heavier (and only a few off of Shimano’s Dura Ace) the Rival offers the best bang for the buck right now. Amazingly simple innards, truly ergonomic and both positive feeling and sounding, Rival is one of the best things I’ve spent my money on this year.

Andy's TCX w/ Rival

Best accessory: Velocomp’s iBike power meter. A multitude of data in a slim, lightweight package and a truly affordable price, the iBike brings power meters to the masses. The masses will get faster with the iBike.

Miscellaneous: A&D Ointment. Developed to treat diaper rash, this ointment is the bomb.com at treating saddle soars. What once took a days or weeks to heal, A&D nixes undercarriage pains in a matter of hours. From one rider to another, get the A&D with zinc for the best healing time.

View Article  Tacx I Magic Trainers
Here at ATA Cycle not only do we have a full line of traditional trainers in stock but also have the Tacx I Magic Virtual Reality trainers.
07098
The I Magic uses the bike you currently have on a trainer that looks like most other trainers. However, the I Magic works in conjunction with a computer placing the rider in any of several different terrains. If the simulated course goes up hill, the resistance of the trainer increases to match the grade of the hill. The top-of-the-line Tacx Fortius model even accelerates your wheel as you descend, giving you the most realistic ride you can get without going outside.

For the ultimate in realism the I Magic also features a number of real-life rides with video taken from famous climbs in the Alps to fun rides in California with the difficulty to match.

ATA Cycle, Concord has one set up with a projector screen (see above) so it really feels like you are in the action.
ATA Cycle, Cambridge features a regular computer monitor that feels every bit as realistic.

I Magic

You can also perform tests on the trainers from time to time to gauge your fitness or see how many watts produced in a simulated Tour de France stage.

We offer home installation as well as technical information and dealer support. You'll have everything you need to take full advantage of the Tacx I Magic.

Next time your in town take a swing into the shop and get a demonstration of the I Magic, we know you'll be enthusiastic about how fun and realistic a ride on a trainer can be.

View Article  Bike Reviews
First up:

Ellsworth. Fantastic brand, good quality and devlish good looks. Cyclingnews.com spoke the truth about the truth in one of their reviews

The Ellsworth Truth we have ready to buy in stock.

Secondly:
Another one of my daily reads, Pez Cycling News, has some great information on the Pro's bikes. Of interesting note is the actual weights of some of the top riders at this years' Tour de France.
The pictures shown aren't their actual bikes, but they do show the Pro Tour cailber bicycles we stock, all of them are begging to be ridden.
First up. Wilier Le Roi. Cofidis' Parra had his bike weigh in at 7.4kg. Lampre's own Cunego had his trusty Wilier weigh in at a slim 7.0kg.

T-Mobile's Giant TCR Advanced bikes ridden by third place finisher Andreas Kloeden also comes in at a comfortable 7.0kg

The mighty Thor Hushovd road upon a Look 595 weighing 7.2kg for Credit Agricole

Francaise de Jeux's C.Mengin, glided over the roads of France abord his 7.2Kg Lapierre X-Lite.(Actual bike in Concord.)

Of important note in the above picture is the left leg that wouldn't stop attacking me on our Tuesday morning ride. At least I took the Arlington town line. (It was aboard a fantasticly light Look 585) Must have been the bike.  [ed. note: that particular left leg was doing one-legged pulls the whole time of course]

I'm sure that you've noticed the difference in weight between Zabel's Colnago Extreme Power (7.8kg) and Rasmussen's Colnago Extreme C (6.8kg). The difference is in the frame my friends. Climbers like 'em light while the sprinters want all of the watts to the road.  (but right now we just have aluminum Colnagos in stock here in Cambridge)

ATA Cycle we're commited to giving the everyday cyclist, not just the pros, a chance to ride the very best bikes around.

Happy Riding,
Jasonic

View Article  Giant Anthem on Cyclingnews
Check out the rave review of Giant's new Anthem full supension cross-country bike at Cyclingnews.com.  The bike received five yellow jerseys out of a possible five and was acclaimed for it's performance and light weight as well as it's value.  The Anthem LE in the review is the Australian model but the frame is identical to the American version so all the comments still apply.
If you want to see one of  these bikes in the flesh stop by either our Cambridge or Concord locations where we've got them in stock and try one out...
